2 years ago we did the drive and dump and got on the water (Kawishiwi) late in the day....about 2:30. I hoped to get a site on Polly for the night. Got to Polly about 5 and paddled about half way up the lake and things looked busy. Paddled back and took the far South site. It's marked on Voyageur Maps but not on the maps here. Big sloping rock up to a decent camp and probably the most secluded site on the lake. The kids caught a fair number of walleyes slip bobbering off of camp. Very quiet bay and you have to work hard to see people pass by off to the west as they paddle up Polly.

It's pretty busy being on the Kawishiwi ---> Malberg route. But it's big enough and has enough campsites that you will probably still get some solitude.

Never fished there, but I have enjoyed the times I've camped there. It's one of my favorite lakes to paddle. I particularly enjoyed campsite 2013. You have your own private island. We settled for it at the end of along day when it started to rain and there was lighting in the immediate area. We were heading south and our plan was for 1074, but it was occupied. We were lucky to find 2013.

I stayed at site #1073 in 2015. It was a nice 4 star site. It is on the south shore of the north end of the lake. Look at a map and you will see what I mean. Pretty views. Just enough breeze to keep the bugs off you, but not too windy.

I don't know about the fishing, but it is a popular destination and often quite busy.

My wife and I are looking at possibly base camping here the first week in September. IS there good smallie and walleye fishing on this lake? We also like seclusion, is this lake pretty busy? Any help would be appreciated.
