My Dad just picked up a decent looking cook-set (Stanley 19 Pc) at Menards. I had read a few reviews and it was at an incredible price compared to what i saw online. I am planning to use it on a September trip for four to Iron lake. I am wondering if anyone has any experience with this gear- is it adequate for four or should i be supplementing some of the items etc..

I have a coupe of the smaller sets and they have worked well for me. That $54.99 Menards price is much better than the $80.00 REI price. I guess I will be making another purchase.

I bought that set at the beginning of March. I haven't used it much, just a couple indoor cooks with the fry pan as a test. It does good, but without the non-stick coating it can be a pain to clean. I'm hoping to get out with it a few times this summer, before my BW trip in August. I am impressed with how it all packs together and how much you get with the kit.

For the price, I think it is one of the best kits out there.

Nineteen pieces sounds excessive to me, but that probably includes pans, lids, handles, etc. I highly doubt that all 19 pieces are needed, especially for a group of four. Can you narrow it down to one fry pan and a couple pots & lids?

How about a photo of the set laid out on the table so we can see it?

Sorry if I go too far OT. Just a quick tip for non-stick pans.

Coat them lightly inside and out with vegetable oil. Put a baking sheet on the lower rack, and put the pan on the middle or upper rack and cook them in the oven at 400 for 45 minutes or so. It will make it almost non-stick going forward with a little bit of oil. It will also make them a little easier to clean on the outside...

The only 'cookware' in this set is a 7.25" frying pan and 3.7 quart pot with a lid, all of the other pieces are utensils and serving dishes. If you need all of the plates, bowls and utensils in this set it might work well considering it all does nest together.

If you are planning on frying any fish I would opt for a larger frying pan.
