Hi everyone just got the last permit to get into Perent through Hog Creek entry point on Friday, May 26th. Usually I start plan waaaay earlier for our trip but this year it was a last minute decision, and that was the only one available that I had on my list of lakes to go to. Do you guys know how busy it gets usually around memorial weekend's Friday? Don't really want to prepare and go into the lake and find out all the campsites are taken, that would be a total buzz kill. We usually leave from Minneapolis around 3-4 AM and reach the outfitters around 8-9. So will probably hit the water around 11 AM Friday. Should I be worried?
Thanks

It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.

You can never tell with a holiday weekend on an entry point lake that is also a good walleye lake, but I would bet that you are fine since there are 18 sites on Perent. There are also sites on the Perent River but I'm not sure how far the fire got a few years ago.

adibee, we are going in on Memorial Day, just to avoid folks like you!(nothing personal of course). In the four days preceding Memorial weekend (last I checked) there were 17 permits taken, and with you there are now 18. Sites will probably be at a premium but even entering at 11am, you will probably not be the latest so you will most likely find something I would think. We really wanted to go in Sunday but thought better of it with the amount of permits taken so we will be spending the night at Crescent Lake and should be able to get an early start on Monday.
We may well cross paths with you on your way out if you are leaving Monday. You, that is, and many other folks we are thinking. We're counting on a lot of groups leaving either Sunday or Monday and hopefully having a lot of campsite choices. We will be two old geezers in a Wenonah canoe with a bandana hanging off the back. Give us a shout if you see us - better yet, why don't you hang out on a prime campsite until we get there and we can shake hands as you depart:). Have a great trip.

I usually go out that Friday. I swear there are more groups than permits everytime going in as I come out. Haha. There's always concern going in on that weekend on a Friday late morning. But like anything else you deal with it and it works out.

A couple of year ago, we visited friends camped on Perent Lake over Memorial Day. It was a zoo. And our friends had the unfortunate experience of being very close to an island campsite full of the nonstop yelling, drunk and curse-laden clowns we all fear. The group was so disruptive that the Forest Service was involved. Eventually the group left, but didn't bother to put out their fire.
I can only expect it to be very full and not very quiet. It's an easy lake to get to, requires only one portage, has good fishing..... perfect for the cooler and lawn chair set.

I did indeed rock down to Electric Avenue, but I did not take it higher. I regret that.

I can only imagine how much pain that would be... I guess there is a reason why this one still had a few permit left. Oh well what can you do, gotta look for a secluded camp away from everyone.

Bumping this, does anyone have a good suggestion for outfitter around that area? I was not able to find any. Will need to rent out canoes and few other stuff.

Sawbill Outfitters. The entry point is a ways away, but that's about the only game in town in that area. Others may have additional suggestions.

Sawtooth Outfitters and Sawbill Outfitters are both great to work with. For a Hog Creek entry I personally like Sawtooth a little better because you don't have to do any backtracking. Pick up in Tofte and straight to the entry point.

I think I will go to Sawtooth, it seems like a faster route. Did you have to reserve the stuff ahead of time?
