Heading to Snake River, Bald Eagle, Gabbro area next week. Are there any fire bans in effect anywhere?

Bob.

Are fire bans common? Generally what time of the year should you plan on that possibility?

I have had fire bans in early spring before things green-up and in the dry time of the fall.

I finished up there two weeks ago and it had been pretty rainy and cold. I don't think there has been a lot of high temps and winds since which could dry things out, but you can always call the local ranger station and ask them their current fire risk rating. I doubt we are anywhere near a ban anywhere in the BWCA right now.

It's supposed to rain much of next week, when I'm there.

Back in the early 2000s I had several August trips where fire bans were in place.
