Heading up this weekend, Putting in saturday. It looks basically certain we will get several days of periodic rain and thunder storms during our trip. Maybe the whole trip... not pleased about this. Any key pieces of advice for fishing during these types of weather periods?

quote AmarilloJim: "Make sure your drag is set correctly and don't horse them in."
LOL. Always solid advice!
I would add that if the wind is consistently out of the same direction fish the windblown shorelines and structure. Also if they are fussy don't be afraid to slow way down and try to feed them some live bait (leeches).
In my experience overcast conditions and light rain can be great. And obviously get off the water if you can see/hear thunderstorms.

One thing I have noticed over the years in fishing whether in the BW/Q or boat fishing is that fish seem to take longer to adjust to changing weather then one would think. One has the idea that after a cold front comes through with a wind shift to the NW and rising pressure and clearing skies that fishing is going to suck. My experience is that it takes the fish about a day to respond to those conditions -- then it can suck, but the fishing can be as good or nearly as good as before the frontal passage (cold in this case) for sometime afterwards.
The opposite I have also found to have some merit. One would think that after a day of warming temps, stable weather etc that the fishing would pick up again about 48hrs after a cold front--- in my experience its been more like 2 days of good stable weather before the fish respond in a positive manner.
Super Severe Outbreak --- all bets are off,, but garden variety to somewhat strong cold/warm fronts the above has been true in my experience.
