Say, in a 6 night trip what is your average number of different camps?

We mostly do two and base. A couple times 1 , a 3 , and twice 4.
I guess we average over 2+ different camps in a week.

Sometimes weather can add one to a trip.

We've almost always done two nights at each camp. Allows for alternating travel vs. rest days. We've found this is what works best for us, especially as we've gotten older.

I usually have one layover day, but travel all other days.

I'd have 5, give or take one. I'm a traveler, but usually plan a weather/layover day every 4 days or so, but might not take them all if not needed or wanted.

We basecamp for shorter trips (~3-5 days over Memorial Day).

For week long trip, we move every other day. That gives more relaxation and fishing time. But we found that basecamps for a week get boring. It adds excitement to move every other day.

Totally depends on who is with me. If I have kids along we may see one or two campsites. If it is just me and another guy we move most days. Last year we had different sites 7 out of 8 nights.

Base camp trips - one. Maybe two if we want to get in a littler farther.
Travel trips (with teens-college age grand kids) move every day unless wind or weather stops us.

Usually move everyday on a 5 night trip. Layover on night on up to 2 weeks. I love the traveling. Weather can change this of course but hasn't often.

the 2 trips that i've been on: first was moving everyday until we got a canoe wrapped around a rock (boyscout group our guide said that we could make it down a river instead of a mile portage.). then we had to stay 2 days while the best 2 paddlers towed it to meet some one with a new one.

2nd we base camped on oyster for a week.

Probably 5 camps for a 10 day trip. It is probably 3 camps for one night each, 1 camp for 2 nights, and another for 4 nights. Basically, if we like a spot we'll hang out for an extra day. If we love a spot, we'll hang out for a while. I guess we're sort of base campers except that our base camps tend to be two long days of travel and over 20 portages from the EP.

We are movers,

However I always plan on staying two nights in case of weather at some point in the week.

So on a 6 night week we stay 4-5 nights. I will never plan a trip that has us moving every day. Too unpredictable.

If I was only going for 6 days I would base camp as much as possible.
