Our family trip is coming up. We decided on Round Lake - Tusc - Ogish - Alpine - Seagull loop.
We will start late and stop at Tusc. We'll stay two days there. What sites do folks like best on Tusc?
Now for the real question: We are going to stop for two more nights somewhere between Tusc and Ogish. What lake should be camp on? Little Sag or Gabi? One of the smaller lakes? We've never really stayed on a little lake. That might be interesting...
Little sag is a great lake. More of a lake trout lake fishing wise. A forest service guy checking my permit on ogish told me Lil Sag is the most underused lake. Paddling by campsites I saw some showing little sign of use. I ended up on Elton for an amazing full moon night.
I've camped on the island twice. Well used but nice. Not great tent pads. Site directly south of that is pretty well protected with a sand landing. Site on the western peninsula is nice but would be buggy with a west wind or if calm. Great views to the east. The site closest to the Missing Link portage would catch a good west breeze for bugs. And the second site to the west of the Missing Link portage on the north shore has a huge sand beach.
And I second Little Sag. Look out for eagles as you paddle through Mora. We saw six as we paddled through a few weeks ago!
