Hey, All!
Going to be in the Kawishiwi Triangle/Gabbro/Bald Eagle area the second week of August, using EP 29. Not the best time for fishing, I know, but it's mainly a family camping/paddling trip. We will wet a line, or three, though, and I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or advice on tackle, tactics, or locations for this area and/or time frame.
Thanks, all! See you on the water!

I am heading to the Triangle on Monday. I will post an update here when I get back. I am planning on using the Strike King Z Too quite a bit because of the success I have had on past trips. Usually on the Kawishiwi its the usual Mepps, Twister tails on a jig head, shallow crank baits and leeches. We have a day trip planned to go to Gabbro so i will hopefully have some good intel for that lake as well.

Well the fishing was terrible. There were 2 cold fronts and a mayfly hatch that came through so we didn't do very well. The best bait we had was a Maroon and gold Berkeley flicker shad in the rapids. Other than that the Zulus didn't produce and neither did leeches.

We are heading up to this area in early August as well. Plan to base camp on Gabbro and day trip to Kawishiwi/Clear as well as Gull/Pietro. Based on looking at the maps seems like there are several rapids and old dams in this area that we plan to target first. I would be interested in any other thoughts regarding the fishing in this area though.

Thanks to the tip from the guys at VNO, I found sauger and walleye in 6-10 feet of water last week on Gabbro. They're calling 2017 so far "The Summer That Never Came." They may go deeper in the next few weeks, but not yet, it seems.
