I would freak out if that happened. Been out west in heavy grizzly country, I can handle that,but snakes would do me in.

I reeled in a bat once while night fishing and just about shat myself. A snake might tip the scale to TP time.

Have had some persistent water snakes try to get in our fish baskets with panfish in the past, but never while a fish was on the LINE. That would freak me out too.

When I was a young man I would wade and fish in a swampy river. The fish that were caught were put on a fish stringer that was tied to a belt loop. I felt something strange pulling on my fish stringer so the stringer was lifted out of the water. A large snake was in the process of swallowing one of the red breast sunfish that was on the stringer. It was a frightening few seconds as I untied my stringer and let the snake, stringer and fish go. The snake was dark brown and looked like a Cottonmouth to me.
