I have an older Lincoln Canoe that I purchased in the late ‘70s that needs some repair. I had left it with my brother for several years and he neglected and abused it. I know all the woodwork need to be replaced. I can do that. I am a carpenter and woodworker. My questions have to do with the repairs to the hull. I have helped build a cedar strip boat and am comfortable with working with fiberglass and resins.

Hull cracks and scratches:





Resin Damage:
The canoe was too close to a bonfire, the gelcoat had cracked and bubbled. It is flexible (soft) but there does not appear to be any damage to the Kevlar or interior resin.


I bought this canoe before I had my first car and used it for several years while working on staff at Boys Scout camps and boating director, aquatics director, and program director. I has been on 8 trips to the BWCA/Quetico area. It has a lot of sentimental value to me and I would love to see it restored.

Any suggested repair strategies would be appreciated.
