Does anyone have the list of dates that the various Quetico ranger stations will close in the fall? Looking to do a fall trip after labor day and wondering if I will need to self-register or if the station will still be open.

I think self registration is Sept. 18 for Prairie Portage and Sept. 11 for Cache bay.

You can figure it out from the registration calander, when it says you can't pre register

Self register

Pinetree that logic is not entirely true.

I spoke to the office in Aitikoken on Monday and found out a couple of dates for northern entry stations.

French Lake September 10

Lac La Croix and Beaverhouse will close sometime between 9/5 and 9/10. He thought they probably will still be there for a couple of days after they stop requiring reservations.

BH entries and LLC entries are not taking reservations after September 4th, French Lake entries are taking reservations until September 10th, but the Ranger cabins for all three might be occupied up until September 10th, Dawson Trail/French Lake and Aitikoken office WILL be occupied until at least the 10th. The LLC and Beaverhouse stations might close before the 10th.

You can self register at Beaverhouse and LLC starting on September 5th either at the Aitikoken office or at the Ranger station. Between the 5th and 10th there may still be someone at those ranger cabins to take payment and answer questions but there is no guarantee. Remember self-registration requires cash or check payment in Canadian dollars.

In addition the customer service desk in the Aitikoken office will close after September 10th, but on weekdays between 8 and 4 it is likely someone (biologist, ranger) will be around who could answer questions. You will just need to get their attention.

I know their is someone sometimes at the stations closing up after those dates on the calendar that suggests self registration or registration online. The calendar does match the dates you mentioned tho for self registration on I believe most if not all sites.

They maybe just throw in a little flexibility on reservation thru online once in awhile.
It is always better to be safe and check than be sorry and not get the permit by reservation if you have to. Never hurts to call and get the real scoop.

Thanks for update.

I usually go again about Sept. 28
