I have made no secret of my affinity for chatterbaits particularly when coupled with Big Bite Bait Warmouth trailers rigged sideways. An excellent walleye and smallmouth offering which is very versatile and effects fish in ways that other baits don't.

And they will catch quality fish as well as numbers. At Presque Isle bay Pennsylvania numerous 3 and 4 lb smallies smacked it. When walleye are shallower than 15ft or in the weeds (a largely overlooked pattern in canoe country) the Chatterbait excels.

I was wandering the isles of Cabelas several days ago and came across a very interesting variation of the Chatterbait. Very impressive offering with a blade which looks dyed or heat treated to get the finish......plus instead of a rubber skirt it is hand tied feathers, no trailer required. Naturally I had to pick a few up (I wonder if Coaster Brookies will eat them?)

YES, they are very proud of them ($) but I can't wait to see how they perform.

Check them out

Interesting concept. That's not what I think of when I think of a "blade bait," which usually brings to mind a Thinfish or a Heddon Sonar, but I'd bet a week of my salary that the Picasso lure would catch a fish or three up there.

Good point, it's certainly not a usual blade type bait, not really sure what to call it.

if you have never seen a Chatterbait type lure in action it is well worth doing. The blade vibrates back and forth rather violently and the consequential wash provided over the rear of the lure is very provocative and makes the skirt / trailer or in the case of the feathered Picasso, come alive.

The other aspect I like is the versatility. These types of lures have intense action even when retrieved slowly. Plus they are very snag resistant wether rock or weeds. Drifting and jigging them in cabbage beds will yield good results. Fish sense the dramatic vibration and find it.
