I'm heading up mid october to do some brookie fishing. I'm wondering if anyone has any info on whether Missing Link or Mavis lakes are a good destination for this? Does anyone have info about getting to Mavis lake? Or if anyone has other recommendations (that they are willing to share) I'm open. I'd like few portages and to avoid big water considering the time of year. Thanks!

I've found that brook trout fishing can be real hit or miss from year to year. Personally, i haven't had alot of success on Missing Link (including this spring) but, they are in there.

Here's a winter trip report where we made it back to Mavis. Hope this helps & have a great trip.

Thanks for the responses!

I'm looking at either mid-September or mid-October, does anyone know if the fishing gets better or worse over this time? I haven't fished brookies this time of year.

The brookies in my photo were caught in early to mid September.

Designated Stream Trout lakes are open thru October for trout such as rainbow, brown, brook and splake. You can't keep lake trout in these lakes.

I stand corrected. Looks like I have another month.
