I was just wondering if there are any outfitters at the entry points aside from Sawbill. I have been to Sawbill twice. I hate going to Ely, throwing a canoe on my car for a ten mile drive, unloading it, etc. I like the idea of renting a canoe and carrying it on my back to the water. Thanks.

There are several up the Gunflint Trail - Tuscarora, Rockwood...

Williams & Hall is on Moose Lake - entry point 25.
They actually take the canoe off the rack and set it in the water and hand you the paddle and life jacket.
As do the other Moose Lake outfitters.

Kawishiwi Lodge and Outfitters has canoes stacked up right on the beach of Lake One.

Yes, there are many options..... the ones listed above are good ones.....

some other ones are Bearskin Outfitters on East Bearskin, Clearwater Lodge on Clearwater, Gunflint Lodge on Gunflint Lake, Seagull Outfitters on Seagull

I'm sure there are even more that I'm not thinking of at the moment

Tuscarora Outfitters. You can paddle from their dock on Round Lake to Missing Link or Brant entries, or a short 2 minute drive back out their road to Cross Bay ep.

Thanks for all the replies. Next question is which one? Planning on doing a solo mid September. I've done Sawbill three times and moose lake once. I usually travel 3-4 hours per day and then fish and relax the rest of the time. Or sometimes I relax, then fish depending on the day.

If you like fishing, consider one of the ep's off Poplar and paddle out from Rockwood Outfitters. Lizz entry, Meeds, or Skipper. Nice string of smaller lakes with decent fishing.....Caribou, Meeds, Horseshoe, Gaskin.....all decent fishing.

I agree....... many great options for a route off of Poplar Lake and Rockwood Outfitters are great. This is the area that I have repeated the most often. I've rented from Rockwood a couple of times and have used their bunkhouse many times.

Thanks for all the replies. Unfortunately I was only get 4 days off in a row for work next month. I'm gonna just head to the turtle flambeau flowage for a couple nights. Much shorter drive for me. Thanks again.
