Okay, so next year I am taking 4 adults and 3 kids up into the Boundary waters in 2018. The total experience between the 7 of them is 1 trip for one of the adults, so nearly all green horns. Anyway, I am looking for an area where we can mix in a few smaller portages with our paddling and then base camp roughly 5 miles in (give or take). Wood Lake EP jumped on my radar, but I know little of this area. So my questions are the following:
1. Are there nice sites that will house 3 tents? 2. Is the fishing good? 3. How is the scenery in comparison to it's neighbor (EP 23) 4. Here's the Big One - would you recommend it for our beginner group?
All answers are appreciated, so thank you in advance - I always appreciate the helpful tips I get from the paddlers on this forum.
