I bought it at Piragis before our trip on 08/19. I was looking around the store and bought it on a wim. I'm sure glad I did. It works like a dream and there are no parts to lose! I processed a lot of wood with it and it was very comfortable to use. It packs down nice and I stored it on the side of my Frost River Buschcrafter pack . It could be stored on the sides of almost any pack with a bottom pocket and side cinch straps.
I love mine as well. The first time I used it (or attempted to) I didn't have the last section seated correctly and when I closed the handle to lock it, there was too much tension on the blade and it snapped. Lesson learned. I purchased 2 new blades (1 for a spare) and splurged on the sheath for it this past year. It's a great saw. Beats the Sven saw because there are no loose parts. Pull the saw out and you can be cutting in less than 5 seconds.
I really like the design. I was going to get a Bob Destrude saw which is a bit lighter but it had some things that I didn't like. The handle could possibly swell being wood and it could be tough to collapse. Changing out the blade in the bush could be a major pain unless you had two multi-tools. The blade swap out on the Boreal21 is easy-peasy!
The sound of a paddle in still waters will steal your soul.
