Cool. Thanks for pisting. Peop,e are important. A project i ginished in jousto a year or two ago is underwater and will have to be gutted and rebuilt but no one injured.
Yes, we can sometimes be overbearing and obnoxious, but when the chips are down, you can almost always count on Texans to do what's right for people in need.
Its almost like Katrina and Rita were a dress rehearsal for Harvey. Once the people at risk have been cared for and the waters recede, communities all across Texas will begin to prepare for hurricane "refugees." For example, my home town north of Dallas received are large number of Katrina refugees and they were cared for ... food, clothing, shelter and the like for the short run. But the effort was not solely for the short run. It was evident then (as it is now) that some of these people will not be going home any time soon (if ever). So housing options were sought along with furnishings to go into those houses (the community response was so large, they had to find warehouse space for all of the items donated). And yes, there were many school age kids that were displaced and classroom space was found for all of these kids ... and they were fully equipped with school supplies on their first day back in school. (Some coastal towns have already put out the word to evacuees ... stay where you are and enroll your children at that location ... we have no idea when schools will re-open). Even job opportunities were sought.
Of course, 100 other things have to happen to care for those who have been displaced by Harvey. But there is one thing we have in abundance ... unvarnished SPUNK.

(Texan to the core ... as I should be since I'm a descendant of the very first people that called themselves Texan.)
