quote BuckFlicks: "Our trips are generally 4-5 days - it's hard for us to take enough time to do a longer trip, but I'd love to go 10-15 days or more."
Me too, tough to get off much more than a week and impossible for me to get more than 13 days in a row unless I quit my job. Since it's 1000 miles each way, that eats up 4 days now. I used to do the trip in a single day, but I was younger then.
Longest trip was my first, and it was 9-10?

I keep inching up.........started out around 9 or 10 and now its usually 20+. I find it takes me about 4 or 5 days to get into the swing of things and 9 or 10 to start to really decompress. After 20 or so days I am thinking about getting out but still not in a real hurry. That 24 to 26 day time frame is about right for me and I would be surprised if I did anything longer but who knows? Waiting for a few pals to retire, who can go for 20+ days?

I am curious if you are self employed, retired or a teacher. Hard for most to get that type of time off. I am a teacher so I have summer flexibility to a point, but at the same time in my 15 years of teaching I have never taken a summer off to make ends meet.

Longest 8 days
Shortest 30 hours
Average is 4-5 days. Hubby - my main tripping partner - prefers shorter. 8 days is about his limit. I'd love to stay longer but I try to make up for it by planning multiple trips per year of varying lengths.

Yes I am president and CEO of a company.................. I am also the janitor, handyman, salesman, manufacturer and gopher ;-)
All I can say is be careful what you ask for. Last year I worked from Sept to May without a single solitary day off. Yep, that includes weekends. Crazy town for sure! So I take my time off in one big chunk. Works for me, but I have to bribe my wife to go along with it.

quote overthehill: "Ten is longest; usually six."
Our trips have always been the same. Leave Missouri later Friday after work, timing our arrival in Ely or Grand Marais to pickup our permit and head to the EP as early as possible in Saturday.
Trips always end the following Saturday afternoon for the drive home. This gives us Sunday to unpack, cleanup and rest before heading back to work on Monday.

Eight days longest, 7 days average.
However, if you add in my 4,000 mile roundtrip driving time my trips have been two weeks.
