For whatever reason, what screen name makes you happy? The reason could be anything: because you're also a fan of a particular football team or you like the sheer, pithy descriptiveness of a certain moniker (ozarkpaddler) or the mystery in another (Zulu) or the good humor in yet another (mastertangler).

So, share the what and the why: Mine is boonie. I have no clue what it means, but it sounds so down-homie and friendly that it makes me smile when I read it and I think, "Perfect campfire pal!"

For some reason, Scat just peaks my curiosity. Would love to hear the reason behind that screen name.

missmolly-

No great mystery behind mine - back when I was running with the gang, George and Gina started calling me that because my last name is Boone :).

The screen name that always conjures up an image for me is: landoftheskytintedwater

Thanks for the background. It's the cutest name...in the rippin'est, roarin'est, fightin'est way that the north woods ever knew.

Boonie's song!

Landofskytintedwater almost has a song too!

Personally, I just wish people would use their names.
That's what "makes me happy" - knowing to whom I'm speaking.

I've always been amused by "Butthead." Wish I would have thought of that one myself.

10/08/2017 07:08PM
Well, since you asked, my theory is, and I've given considerable thought to this, considering your name is Katy, that your screen name missmolly derives from a pet you care for, maybe a dog, but I'm putting my money on a cat named Molly. I guess that makes me happy. Why wouldn't it. Except I'm probably wrong. Second guess is you have a grandma Molly. Not as happy with that, for whatever reason. Third guess is you like the name molly. Cuz it's punk rock cool.
Happy dance.

I gotta go with the others that are connected to my family tree ;-)

Jackpine,
Banksiana,
Pinus Strobus,
Pinetree,

Sorry, to other trees out there that I'm sure I missed.

There are so many clever board names. I can really appreciate creativeness in that regard. My all-time favorite board name is actually from another board because I don't think he ever found his way onto BWCA.com.

Tip Kanuski

I could name several from this board, but I know that I'll miss some obvious ones and have to edit my post.

FISHONFISHOFF, BobberNumber3 and MoosePlums are three pretty good ones though.

Another good one is PaddleFasterPastor. I just saw him about a week ago and he admitted that he really doesn't spend much time on here (or any canoe board) anymore. Pretty clever name for a canoeing clergy.

This would be a great campfire conversation.

10/08/2017 11:14PM
I like a lot of them because they speak of nature or other things I like. Others I like because of the creativity and thought put into them. I like some because they're unusual. Below are a few that came to mind in no particular order.

wetcanoedog
TuscararoraBorealis
Snakecharmer
MrBarley
Banksiana
HighPlainsDrifter
Goldenbadger
Jeepgirl
Dogwoodgirl
nojobro
Satchmoa
HowardSprague
jb_in_the_wild
fishguts
Jackfish
Adam

But by far the most twisted, sophomoric and wierd screen name that makes me laugh evertime I think about it is.........

Canoealingus

Start a thread asking people to list their real name. Some people will probably tell you.

My favorite screen name is Widespreadpanic, it just cracks me up. My second favorite is Butthead, or as my son was saying at wing night Buttface lolololool. My favorite sentimental screennames, are two guys that I miss very much, Amok and Kanoes .

Heheheh, me too! I always chuckle when I respond to him in a thread with a "Thanks butthead" or something (LOL)? Just SO many that make me smile, laugh, or give me a warm feeling so I know I'll miss some.

Amok- I didn't know Amok, like many of you, but always enjoyed his posts. As a cancer survivor myself, we always see things a little differently; the skies are a little bluer, the sunsets are more spectacular, steak tastes a little more amazing..... I could feel that in his posts and I go back and look at some of his threads on occasion.

Saganagajoe-He makes me smile in much the same way. He seems so enthusiastic and optimistic it just bubbles out in his posts

Missmolly-Reminds me of the Jerry Vandiver song that speaks to my heart. Have had a lot of e-mails between us and feels like a "Kindred" soul?
Molly and Me Jerry Vandiver

Onematch-speaking of Jerry, I love his songs, enjoy his posts. Would like to spend some river time with him again, he's a great trip mate.

Puffingin-Ginny's a long time friend and she and Duluth Moose's friendship are treasured memories.

maxxbhp-I love Bill's tongue-in-cheek sense of humor and he's one of my favorite trip mates on the river. We need to get out again this fall, Bill!

Spartan2-I feel like her threads are kind of like a warm hug? She's always been so nice and helpfull to me.

Drab-one of the kindest, nicest guys you could hope to meet.

dedgrass-another fine tripping partner who can pick a banjo and catch fish out of a bucket

Basspro69-Such a nice guy, I always feel like I get a "Virtual" hand-shake when I interact with him. Seems like such a nice guy?

Tuscaroraborealis-my favorite trip reports and many of them on the Gunflint in areas I'm familiar with.

Dicecupmaker-What a guy, dedicates so much time and $$$ to his crafts to members on this board! THANK YOU!

I know I missed several because MOST of you here are a "Treasure" to me. I spend probably 75% of my online time here. Thanks to all of you out there that make BWCAW.com such a great site!

Possibly the least original name here. Estimated 98.757% can figure out the origins of it and the others can get help if desired. Anyway, it fits my interests and I like it.

I had Ripple on another site, but Ripple already was here. (kinda like Ripple, for the song) So just went with my name. Maybe change it one day to Grumpyoldcanoeguy...? nope, too long. I like all the variety of names, legal and otherwise, though there are some that you might not want hollered across a room at you...

I like big weather events- big thunderstorms and HUGE winter storms. Therefore Whitewolf usually gets a click from me.

AMOK- I do enjoy seeing his posts while reading through old posts. I do miss Kanoes' pot stirring.

Lots of great names and folks here.

I just chose mine for lack of originality and the fact that it wasn't taken. When playing games online I heard someone pronounce is 'Buffurlo', like buffalo with an R in it. I kinda liked that one. :)

Butthead is a double-edged sword for me. I get a kick out of his screen name, and his comments are spot-on and helpful. On the other hand, when I read his comments I often end up spending money.

I'm sure there's a gear 12-step program out there somewhere.

Dave (with a dumb "couldn't think of anything else" screen name)

10/10/2017 09:21PM
BlueSKiesWI. I like how he found a screen name that creatively includes his name ( Bryce Kies). And he happens to be my son, and that alone makes me happy.

I just can't believe I can just about recognize everyone now and put names to monikers. Butthead cracks me up because he's anything but. Whether you have a real quirky name or use your own name it don't matter here. Everybody I meet is pretty unique in their own way. Love ya all...

Ok Miss Molly, that was funny. Except reality would have you and many joining Arctic for the brain spot. Excuse me I gotta clean up my messes from spitting out my coffee while reading that. Maybe funny bone would be you too... Not really an organ.

I've admired the name "Obiwenonakenobi" for its cleverness and interweaving of two apparent passions.

A name I'm happy to click on is "Saganajoe". I think Saganajoe has one of the most upbeat, enthusiastic and refreshing attitudes on this board.

I associate the screen names with the persona on the keyboard behind it. Without exception I find BWCA an entertaining mix. If it were not so I wouldn't hang out. Some monikers are more clever than others and if I had to pick one based solely on a screen name I suppose it would be Butthead. Its just flat out funny.........say it three times and try not to laugh.

From the first time I found this site I've always thought Kanoes was clever, and that was before I even started reading his post or met him.
