We fish. A cribbage board and cards are in the pack in case of rain.

Cribbage!!!!
Joy is a great teacher, but so is dispair. Wonder is a great teacher, but so is confusion. Hope is a great teacher, but so is disillusionment. And life is a great teacher, but so is death. To deny yourself any of those in any aspect is not experiencing life totally.

I bring along a deck of cards but more often than not, we end up making up games to play with what is around the campsite.
Fate whispers to the warrior "You cannot withstand the storm" and the warrior whispers back "I am the storm". Unknown.

bposteve: "We play cribbage, bring a slingshot and have shooting contests. It's a non-official game, but we also have farting contests...are we the only ones?!"
Do you judge by how loud or how strong, or both? You could play it like a game of chicken... get inside a zipped up tent and the last one to leave wins!

I like a bit of strategy in games, so a couple years ago I was looking for cribbage alternatives for rainy days. I settled on Hive as a chess-like game without the board. And it is appropriately themed on bugs. :)
I also picked up Catan: Traveler Compact Edition for a 4 player game. It is self-contained and worked well under the tarp during an all-day downpour last summer on Gaskin.

None of the above. Prefer to fish. I've played Uno maybe 3-4 times in my life, don't remember about Yahtzee, maybe played it once or twice, wouldn't have any idea about cribbage, prob wouldn't recognize the game if it were in front of me, and generally not in the mood to play cards. Exception was a few years ago - before my trip, my daughter - about 6-7 years old at the time, walked up to me and said, "Here, Daddy - take these with you in case you and Jerry get bored when you're camping." It was a set of Old maid cards. It was so damned sweet, there was no way I couldn't take them along. And so, OneMatch & I played what I'd think - ok, going out on a limb here - what I think was the first ever game of Old Maid played on Hassel lake.

My favorite game, is hang the tarp. Being the putzer I am could spend more than a day locating/hanging/adjusting. Second favorite is find stuff to burn in the rain!
I am easily entertained.

Same for us. We also play cribbage while winter camping to determine who has to wake up and start the stove the next morning but mostly we are there to fish.

I always bring a deck of cards but never use them. There is always something to do like splitting wood, fishing, watching the fire or looking at the view/stars. If it is raining and getting dark then yeah cards would work but that's only happened once and we went to bed.

Sounds like our last trip when we put too many black beans in our chicken fajitas. We played the farting game for 24 hours, non-stop!!!!!!!

Back in the late 1960's, I had the "opportunity" to listen to an old 33 record of a championship farting contest. It had sound effects and a scoring system which included the dynamics shown below as well as crescendo up and down. I laughed until I cried and would certainly be in the market to buy or borrow to listen to it again if it were available. Anyone ever heard it? I tried to find it online several years ago without success. No contests for me as my losing would be compounded by the acrid air I would be breathing.

As for games, a good game of "Ding Dong Ditch" can take quite a long time,,, best performed under cover of darkness no flashlights of course..

My friends and I play game we call "Rock and Stick." Lets just say it is very similar to bocce ball but we use small rocks as our throwing object, a stick/branch or sometimes a small tree as the marker, and Each player gets one toss. Who ever gets the closet gets 1 point and we generally setup anywhere from 6-8 different "holes" around our campsite . if anyone hits the stick its 3 points. And the person that is the furthest away has to take a shot of booze. Measurements are mad in footsteps and the first one to 11 wins....
It's some what difficult to explain but I'm sure you get the general idea. Last year I went to tiger bay on LLC and we stayed at he peninsula site in the bay. This site would have been the ultimate site to set up an "18 hole" course, however, It was only a friend and I on this trip. past years we generally went with a group of 4-8 people..
But HEY, try it some time and change the rules you personal preferances.

Count me out, as I was raised in a more "don't do that in front of anybody, and if you do, try to make sure it's quiet, and if you do that, deny vehemently that it was you, and if that's unavoidable - like if the dog points you out - be really, really embarrassed" - type atmosphere.
So, I'm more likely to get up and wander away from the campsite for that, out of earshot and out of olfactory range of everyone. Then I'll return, and say I was checking out some cool lichens,...

My husband and I love games, so we brought along a regular deck of cards, and Phase 10. Had a lively Phase 10 tournament on our swimming rock at 634 on Gaskin while waiting to see if some clouds in the distance were going to turn into something serious.

12 years of bringing up groups of men and boys to BWCA. Never brought a game, electronic or paper.
It is a wilderness area. The kids were never at a lack of things to do.
Personal favorite is one year the middle school age kids (4 of them) were "exploring". A little while later everyone heard a crashing sound then a splash. A moose had come ashore. The kids saw the moose and ran towards it hollering. He took one look at those buy, turned around and took off back in the water.
They told that story for a long time.
