So we booked our trip for September and in typical fashion all I can think about is our trip even though it is 8 months away.

We are going in on #47, would like to go to Gaskin for a couple days and maybe do Pillsbury 2 days until we heed to Meeds our last two days.

Anyone know if there is any good fishing on Pillsbury?

Thanks,
Brian

I really like Pillsbury. It's a very quiet lake especially compared to the busier lakes near it like Caribou, Horseshoe, and Gaskin. It only has 2 sites and the western one is really bad. The eastern one is ok for a small group. I stayed there for 2 nights on a late June trip and we only saw 1 group pass through.

We caught a lot of smallies, especially near dusk on topwaters. We also caught enough walleye including some from the campsite for a fish fry.

I've also caught some fish from the eastern site on Pillsbery. One very nice northern on a very windy day.

Make sure you get some info on where the portage is from Pillsbery to Swallow. I couldn't find it and was told after my trip it was further east from where my map had shown. I checked 4 places on shore that looked like a potential start to a portage....was not convinced any of them was the right track.

Go to the maps section on this site and read the posts about this portage. With good intel, I'm sure you'll find it.
