Sure why not? The Luci lights have a small solar panel so it might take a while to throw some juice into a phone but in a pinch it might suffice. I used the Luci Light this past summer in the shelters at Isle Royale and they were very cheerful and shed a decent amount of light in the enclosed area. I rather like them.

Note that charging the larger battery required to have juice for your phone means that a full charge takes 14 hours instead of 7 hours of direct sunlight. The Luminaid also takes 14 hours for a full charge. I still like the combination for people who can use some USB charging capability.

REI has had them for several months now. Have looked at them but not for charging phones. They (Luci Pro Series: Outdoor 2.0), can be charged from a battery or solar panel like my GoalZero 13s. It works both ways.

HowardSprague: "I like Luci lights; I don't see them on the Canoecopia exhibitor list for this year...too bad, I'd have picked up one or two more."
Usually there but displayed in a combined vendor booth.

I have two Luci lights. I like this solar/USB lantern by ThorFire much better: https://www.amazon.com/ThorFire-Rechargeable-Emergency-Portable-Flashlight/dp/B014H4036A/
It gives off quite a bit more light and can be used effectively as a flashlight. Close it up and it shines a beam about 100 feet. Solar recharging ability is negligible, but if you charge it fully at home it will last several nights. at 3 hrs a night.

Hey, I think that's where I first met you a couple years ago, in front of the Luci Lights at Canoecopia!

Just did an in store comparison at REI between Luminaid and Luci
Both have same battery specs, similar charge time. Luminaid feels heavier, packs down larger, and is a bit more expensive.
