The person who posted that in View From My Canoe has now posted some info about the cat on canoe trips. Parallels them on portages through the woods. Wanders around while they set up camp and then another picture of the cat in her lap while cooking dinner.
Amazing cat.
Amazing cat.

OneMatch: "This is gonna be a tough one! "Black Cat In A Canoe"?"
I think Weird Al Yankovic should cover this one. Maybe to the tune of Harry Chapin's "Cat's in the Cradle".
And the cat's on the paddle and the Lake Trout spoon
No litter box find a sand beach soon
When we going home, dad?
When we're at Trails End
I'll give you to a Cat Lady then
You know you'll never canoe again

Zulu! You missed your calling! Weird Al would be proud.
We all have to believe in something. I believe I'll go paddle.

One time a buddy and I were fishing a little hole on the Kettle River by Rutledge, MN, from the canoe. There was a cat up on shore who was meowing at us to come and get it; it was pretty obvious and funny as hell. So we did, and the cat walked around on the gunnels the rest of the afternoon and tried to eat our minnows. It was fun.

Growing up as a kid we had many wild animals living with us.
One was a pet skunk (descented).
I remember at least one time we took it canoeing with us down the Zumbro River in Southern MN, that skunk would also ride on the bow of our canoe.

May the rivers be crooked and winding, and your portages lonesome, leading to the most amazing view.
