Actually 303 has a myriad of uses and claims to be a "space age protecterant". That I don't know about but what I do know is my Watershed Duffels strongly insists on using this product. It certainly helps lubricate the zip lock type seal for ease of use as well as prolong the life of the material.
I have also used it with my patio furniture with good results. Seems like very good stuff.

Dooger: "If you go to the 303 web page, they're having a 30% off sale since it's 3/03!
If you need some and it's tough to get locally, might be your day to place an order. "
I always wondered. Is 303 that much better than armour-all? It is much more expensive and they both seem to do the same thing. What is the science and facts behind the difference? Just wondering. JG

303's UV protection is much greater than that of Armor All's. 303 does not attract and hold dust like Armor All tends to. Aesthetically, 303, when used correctly, provides a matte finish as opposed to Armor All's shiny, almost greasy-looking finish. Armor All has a history of questionable quality and numerous allegations of causing damage (Armor All's original formula certainly did cause damage to plastics and vinyls). 303 has a history of high quality and dependable results.
303 is NOT much more expensive.
Looking at Amazon, 32 oz of 303 is $14. 2 16 oz Armor All is $20.
1 gal of 303 is $43. 1 gal of Armor All is $40.

Just remember to reapply it frequently. 303 protectant will run-off with water rather easily. As much as I love it, I do not use it on my canoe because of this. I usually use a spray-on (aka WOWA/wipe-on walk away) paint sealant, or this year I'm contemplating applying a ceramic coating. I have a Nova Craft Haida with bootlace seats, so I treat the laces with 303 Fabric Guard.
For perspective, when used on cars...
303 Protectant washes away rather easily.
Wax provides protection for days-weeks.
Spray sealant provides protection for 2-4 months.
Traditional paint sealant can provide 6 months of protection.
A spray-on rinse-off silicon dioxide coating that I have will last 3-4 months.
"Normal" silicon dioxide or silicon carbide coatings provide protection for a matter of years.

The classic 303 video of the life jacket 1/2 treated and left on a roof sold me.
I use it on the vinyl for a water trampoline also and believe it has seriously extended the life of that toy. Whenever I can, I wipe down canoes with it - can't hurt!

Wherever there is a channel for water, there is a road for the canoe. -Thoreau
