All,
I am scheduling the 2nd annual wingnite at Beacon Bar in Hermantown MN, for Friday March 23, @ 6:00 PM.
Last year we had 8 members attend the wingnite, (actually it is an all you can eat fish fry for 11 bucks).
We had members from as far away as Deer river and Cotton, with the closest member living two houses down from the Beacon.
My wife is a RN and I will be passing out rolls of Coban, as a parting gift to the attendies to add to their emergency/first aid kits.
FYI, Ben/NCTY
Just trying to give you a heads up so you can schedule your future doctors appointments around my availability to bail you out of the hospital again :-)

May the rivers be crooked and winding, and your portages lonesome, leading to the most amazing view.

Grandma L: "This sounds interesting - if the weather cooperates, might be doable."
Sounds good Lori,
Guessing I can get my wife Krista to come, if you need a place to spend the nite we have an extra bedroom available, it has its own bathroom nearby to boot.
I've emailed some folks privately who went last year and so far we have three people who will try to make it, plus my wife and I.
My wife doesn't follow this forum but she has done way more paddling in the BW than myself, through her family and the Campfire Grils.
Ben what about you?

Bumping this backup.
We only have three confirmed so far, but I think we may get 5 or 6 at least.
There has to be more members from the Duluth, Superior areas that we have not heard from.
Only 6 days away, good fish fry and I have a table reserved.
Hope to see you there.

Good, my wife will also be there. That makes four, and I think another one has confirmed via email.

I'm planning to be there. Your offer is generous, but I'd need to go home before the cities. So if someone else can take you up on your offer that would be good as far as staying at your place. Maybe I could snag a ride with Chuck. But I'm guessing if weather is good he'll ride his bike. I see a surgeon that morning for my belly in Hibbing then a week later in Duluth for shoulder. Let the more fun begin. Haha.

Still working on getting up there. I will keep you posted.
As a side note: I have been refurbishing the Camp Canoe Trip Paddles. Yesterday, I finished a couple with Krista's name listed - 1979, I think. Fun to remember those trips and the great kids! Also, had breakfast with Teri Woodhull this morning. Funny how the universe connects folks!

Bring those paddles if you come, Krista would love to see them, if not take a picture of them, and pm to me and I'll show her.
Hope you can make it.

Great Eric,
Always look forward to meeting members I havn't rubbed shoulders with yet. Glad I reserved one or two tables, looks like we will need the second one now.

PuffinGin: "I'd like to join you too if there's still room at one of the tables."
Of course there is room Puffin, the more the merrier, spread the word to any non-members, maybe we will make a new recruit.
Beacon bar will not get busy until 8 pm or later when the band comes, if we have to get a third table, then it's all for the better.

Haven't been to a wing night since we had the one in Cloquet several years ago. Some of the same great paddlers will be there I see. Would love to make it but will be in shoulder surgery recovery. Maybe next time. Until then, see you in the water!

Your too young for stuff like that.... Haha. Dang, it would be fun to see you again. Been too long!
I'm excited to see people like puffin Gin, Bellow Lake... And his bride... Linden who we hear from but never see. Haha. And wow, lots of others joining in... GrandmaL... You should take Linden up on the room. Skip the snow... I'm going down to the symposium in the morning. It shouldn't be that bad. 5 inches was the high end amount.
RoundRiver... You'll be missed....
As far as weather... Up here I don't see anything until Monday night and I'll be in Ohio. Haha.

This is looking like we will have a prety good turnout, I think we may top last years numbers.
My wife Krista is coming and she will bring her photo albums of BW pics from 40 years ago, here is a couple sample pics. We have been together nearly 20 years and I never (knew of) or saw these albums until a couple days ago.
I don't think she liked her 80's style hair do :-)

Wow, see the picture with the small paddle that has names on it. That paddle is currently in my living room along with 50+ more of them waiting for a new coat of varnish. I have been doing a refurbishing project for the camp I directed. Great Pics! The camp background is "home" to me. Tanadoona! Krista, I think you are on several paddles. 1977, 1978 and 79 for sure. Thanks for bringing back the great memories!

Do any of us like what we had?"
Linden... Wasn't that 70's hair...
My seventies hair... Afro...
The thing that turns my stomach is the shorts I wore...
Just glad glad glad I got into paddling. Those were very good years.
