Hey everyone!

I've been doing some research and I'm pretty sure I'm settling on EP 14 due to people suggesting I check out the Devil's Cascade on top of EP14 seeming to be a good entry point for what I'm trying to do.

I have a fairly mixed group of people on experience, so we're aiming for about 10 miles per day (maybe more, I'd like a route that has some flexibility). The catch is we will be entering on a Friday morning and trying to get back sometime in the afternoon on Monday, so we have a little under 4 days and 3 nights.

Does anybody have any route suggestions or things to see? I could probably figure out a specific route, but if anyone has any cool spots to see I'd be thankful as for some people coming it will most likely be their first and last trip.

I'd greatly appreciate anything you have for me!

I'd head for Shell, Little Shell or lynx lakes. Little Shell campsite is the only one on the lake and you can fish all three lakes very easily from Little Shell. Heritage is a very nice lake as well in my opinion. Devils Cascade can be seen on your way to the above mentioned lakes. EP 14 offers some really beautiful river paddling and the portages are even nice too on the river. The only annoying portage is between pauness and shell lake as you have to load unload for a beaver pond mid portage. This is one of my favorite EPs

Check out the route I did last year. It’s 40-some miles and is doable in 4 days. Here’s a link with my trip report and video report.

If you dont need to get back to EP14, and can loop to EP16, that is a fun route. Enter EP 14, check out devils cascade, then stay on Pauness, Lynx, or Shell Friday night depending on when you leave. Travel Saturday to Hustler and camp there for the night (worth the mile portage in and out). Sunday travel through Oyster and Agnes to Nina Moose and camp there Sunday night. 2 hour paddle out Monday morning to EP16 which is nice if you're trying to hit the road by a decent hour.

If you need to return out of EP14, going to Hustler and back is still a great option. That is a nice lake with some real seclusion.

That's a beautiful area, you cant really go wrong.
