I have a spot (about the size of a quarter) of gel coat that has chipped off of the bow of my NC Haida, and I want to both repair that and add a skid plate. Is there any reason I can't just go straight to adding the skid plate? Is there a reason I should repair the damage first THEN do the skid plate after that's cured?
After consulting with Wenonah ... I put a skid plate on the bow of my MN II right over a spot where the gel coat was wore off and some kevlar fabric had begun “fuzzing” .
They said no need to repair the area that was lacking gel coat. Just install a skid plate.
