I am looking for suggestions for Outfitters near the Bower Trout entry #43. I would be interested in closest distance to entry point and available Canoe rental. And of course any other info would be gladly excepted and appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

JC

I think Rockwood and Hungry Jack are the closest big outfitters? But if you want to spend the night in a really nice room and get a wonderful breakfast, stay at Poplar Creek Guesthouse. You won't even have to drive back to pavement to get to your EP. And Ted and Barbara have lived on the Gunflint for about 6 decades now, so they are excellent resources and great people. If you need some gear or a canoe, the outfitting side of their business is called Boundary Country Trekking.

I think the closest would be Sawtooth Outfitters on MN 61 in Tofte on your way to Grand Marais, then you wouldn't have to backtrack. If you're looking for a bunkhouse, they don't have one; I have stayed in Rockwood's bunkhouse a couple of times.
