Looking for a reasonable rental for 1 month near the gunflint anywhere between Grand Marais and the end of the trail. Would be willing to trade my skills, carpentry, electrical, plumbing.

There are some cute little cabins on the shore of Gunflint Lake that are managed by Gunflint Outfitters and Lodge. I'd try them. Some are privately owned, some are owned by the lodge.

Don't know about reasonable, however. Between the tourism and population there is a shortage of housing in the Grand Marais area and rents are pretty high.

Good luck.

Look at VRBO (Vacation Rental By Owner). It helps cabin owners rent out their cabins when not in use. A quick look revealed a few options. Depending on what month you're looking at you may run into an issue finding a cabin that has an entire month open at this point but its worth a look. Reasonable cost is likely subjective but I doubt you'll find anything that most people would call cheap.

Here is my quick search, June 1 to June 30. Not sure of your family size but I used 2 adults, two kids, and no pets.

I used the VRBO, Home Away. I am sure there are others.

Also check out Air BnB. We rented a place on the north shore last summer through Air BnB and it we a pretty reasonable rate and worked out well for us.

I would think there is probably an outfitter that could use your skills, that might be able to share a bunk. Maybe just give them all a call, and trade in-kind services.
