CCS over the next unknown times may be having slower order fulfillment times. Karen my wife is in the final stages of Ovarian cancer that is going to claim her Inspiring life. I am privileged to be her primary caregiver during this time. Between the needs of hospice care in our home and just the numbness of grief as her passing approaches, business has been pushed back in my priorities.
I am still shipping a quite a number of items we have in stock and that our talented crew can sew without much of my involvement. Please help me by willing to accept a second or third color choice and planning ahead, and using email to communicate with CCS.
I thank you all in advance for all your prayers, vibes and well wishes. Hug your partner, friend and family and tell them you love them. Life is too short, to not let those around us know how much they are loved .

Dan, my heart hurts for Karen and for you and your family. You all have my prayers for strength during this difficult time.

So sorry to hear that Dan, you and your wife are in our thoughts and prayers. I'll never forget when I ordered my CCS tarp. It was a day or two after my mother's funeral and I mentioned something about that when I said I would no longer put off ordering a tarp because life is too short. I remember the heartfelt sympathy card you enclosed with my tarp. I wish there was something I could do for you both to take the emotional and physical pain away. But there is much love and prayer for you two coming from our little farm, Dan!

You will both be in my thoughts and prayers. We stopped in last fall to pick up a tarp and Karen gave us a tour of your shop. My buddy commented afterwards that it was his first canoe trip in over 25 years but that he wanted to buy a pack or something because Karen was so nice.

Gosh, this is a real shock. When I stopped by in March to pick up some gear for my annual spring trip to Quetico, everything appeared as usual. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Dan

One benefit of growing a business as you have, Dan, is that the vast majority of customers are far more concerned about your wife and you than we are about when we might get a new pack. Forget about delivery. Forget about sewing. Take care of your wife, and take care of your self. God bless. We're with you.

So sad the time has come to say goodbye ( temporarily). Thank you Dan for taking the time to share with us at this difficult time.
And please do remember to take care of yourself.. Caretaking is the hardest job that anyone has to do.
Take time as long as you need , now and in the future.

Dan, thank you for letting us know, not about the shipping times and ordering details, but about what your family is going through. Your business is so about so much more than selling products, but about caring for us by helping us enjoy the world around us through your gear or sharing your knowledge. I'll be thinking of all of you as we use each piece of our CCS gear.
I hope that hospice supports you as you care for her and provides you with the ability to have loving times together. Below is something a friend wrote after losing her husband to lymphoma. She was writing to a stranger whose wife was terminally ill with a different cancer. It is something I've always remembered and I hope it means something to you.
"Finally, remember that there is ALWAYS hope. If not a hope for a cure, then hope for a remission, hope for a few extra months, hope for freedom from pain, and hope for a quality of life that allows you to still feel the love and joy that you've shared up until now. Your hopes will change from day-to-day and minute-to-minute. Some you'll let go of as things change, but some will be fulfilled, and you'll both have these as victories."
My thoughts are with you.

Prayers for comfort and peace. Dan truly sorry to hear you're going through this. Cancer sucks. And while God can do some amazing things in the battle against cancer, it is still a thief that robs us of those closest to us.

Agree and disagree with this. If this is work you love then it can really help to take your mind off difficult times. Same for any other hobby that can distract you or at least bring a little normalcy to your day. Spend time with your wife, make as many happy memories as you can, but don't forget to take care of yourself. You don't want her worrying about you in addition to everything else.
I pray that this time you have with her is joyous and peaceful.

I was just putting away my CCS stuff last night and thought of you.
I pray that your time with your wife is as peaceful and joyful as possible.
You're business is special. All of us love your stuff but we'll gladly wait or take second choice colors to help you through this...

Having known that Karen's plight was worsening doesn't make my deep sadness any easier. Being in her presence always brightened my day. Thank's for sharing this very personal moment with your many friends. I wish there was something I could say or do to help lift your burden.
I set a goal of losing 10 lbs. this year. I only have 15 left to lose.

I was wondering why you were not at 'copia in march and maybe this was part of the reason why. My bride and myself are both 68' this summer...going to be married 44 years (sometimes 144 year) this August. Occasionally the thought comes up in my mind about when and how our love affair will end... Got the trip to Alaska checked off the bucket list last summer... Easier to have the answering machine telling folk we are gone for a few days now with kids all adults now, no mortgage or car payments...
MY thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

So sad and sorry to read this news Dan. The two of you have positively impacted the lives so many as is evidenced by this board. Family should always come first. You'll have many loyal customers and followers when you return. May the spirits you honor aid in bringing you some solace.

I have so much to say, but no words come out.
It's strange, I've barely met you, Dan, only one time at Midwest Mountaineering but, I've bought a collection of gear from CCS and have always dealt with Karen. Because of that, and through her, I feel like I know you much better than I do.
She's a truly wonderful lady. Cherish your time together.
I wish you and your family peace and comfort at this difficult time.

I'm very sad for you and your wonderful wife. Take every minute you can to care for her and try as you can to also care for yourself. There are others here who have been in the same position and would best be good support. We love you Dan and Karen.... And the crew at CCS... Prayers for comfort in this very difficult time.

You and your family are in our thoughts.
I was at your place, 2 years ago getting another set of packs for my little gingers and you were telling me about Karen's diagnosis. Every time I have packed the packs since, I have wondered how things were and now I know. I am sorry and wish the best.

Thanks for sharing Dan. As I've stated elsewhere, I knew of the basics of this since Canoecopia. Every time I look at or use one of my CCS packs, tarps, or bags I think of you. On my May BWCAW trip I prayed for you. Thank you for the reminder to share our love. We are with you.
