On my trip this year at the end of May, I caught this 24” fat walleye on Hatchet Lake, on a fly rod. Full sink line with a jointed black woolly bugger. Was a shame I was solo as it was twice what I could eat myself.

Fantastic!
I'm curious about how you caught it. I just started fly fishing in the last month, so forgive my newb-ness.
Do you cast it, let it drop, and just slowly strip it in moving it along the bottom? Do you troll it? Are you working it suspended mostly?
No matter how you did it, GREAT FISH!!

I caught this one trolling with my 7wt rod as I was paddling to the spot I was going to fish. I caught plenty others with casting, counting out for the depth and the sink rate of the line, and then slowly retrieving. I was snagging bottom quite a few times, but was able to get it unhooked by paddling up past where I was snagged and got my streamer free. The only streamers I lost were to the toothy pike. I also lost a huge pike or walleye as I didn't get a good hookset. It hit so hard it ripped the line from my hands before I could grasp it harder to try to set the hook. Only had it on for about 8 seconds before I lost it. Whatever it was, it was huge.
I also brought my 9wt rod for pike fishing and used it on Kiana lake. I day tripped into Kiana one afternoon and caught 4 pike in the 20+ range and one 30". Was hoping for larger, but was still satisfied as it was my first time fishing that lake.
