For me it has to do with storing canoe straps. When it's a couple it's no big deal. But I usually have about sixty straps. I've tried rolling, braiding... You name it... As I was about to attack my ball of straps before this trip I thought, what if I put them one at a time in a bucket. Boy did that work good. Then when I take a canoe off I just put it's right in the bucket as I go. Never a tangle or anything. Doesn't take any time, and I have easy open lids.

That’s how we deal with long cables on field surveys. With a 100 meter cable it can’t tangle that way because there is only one end in the bottom of the bucket and one end at the top. Glad it is working with a bunch of straps. Just remember that the strap at the bottom of the bucket is basically retired.

I hope to one day have enough canoes and straps that I have this problem.
