Thanks for posting. Lots of tidbits I didn't know. Now I have a reason to visit Iowa.

Love it!

I found this Youtube video of someone who spent a week up in Twin Lakes at his cabin.

Thanks for the link. I just finished One Man's Wilderness (book) and so this was a timely post.

It's so nice that people took the time to honor Dick with this museum. Looks like a lot of time was put into it. I will have to go there for sure. I own the 2 big volumes of journals and 3 DVD's about Dick. I still haven't read "The Early Years" journals but one of these winters I'll sit down with it. Really great stuff. Thanks for the link. He was one of a kind, who lived life on his own terms.

I've been to many place along the IL-IA border over the years but I missed this one.
Now I have a reason to back again.

I went to the Field of Dreams in Iowa back around 2000. I love road trips.

The book, with Sam Keith, is wonderful. One of my favorites.

There was a bit of controversy about this book. Apparently Keith wasn't exactly honest in how he quoted Richard. To "sell the book" he used words and phrases that Richard never used.

I would recommend getting the 2 large volumes of Richards journals. "More Readings ..." and "The Early Years". There's a third out now too about the years in the 1980's.

"

That sounds to me as having some degree of truth to it. I just started the one with Keith and it didn't strike me as Dick's style right from the start. Still, it'll be a good read--albeit a tad too polished.
