Our favorite restaurant is Insula in Ely the night before our trip, and who knows, we might go there again for our upcoming trip... but I was wondering...

Does anyone serve tacos in Ely?

You might try 2 Gringo's Tex-Mex Grill on Sheridan St. If it's tex-mex they should have tacos.

2 Gringo's went out of business. I know of no place to get a taco close to Ely. Only chance I can think of is if they have a "special" at Grand Lodge or the Casino.

I think the nearest location may be

La Cocina & Cantina
407 Chestnut St
Virginia, MN 55792

So you may have to get your taco fix either before or after your trip.

Taco Tuesday vs fresh bologna Thursday - what a conundrum.

You drove from Ely to Grand Marais one morning to have coffee at the Java Moose so maybe you could drive to Hughies in G.M. to get your tacos. ;)

Stop in Two Harbors on your way up or back. This place has input by the people of Trail Center.

To be fair... I drove from Ely to Grand Marais for Moose Madness... so, when in Rome. ;-)

The Street Taco and Eats food truck had been in town for July but left right after the blueberry festival. He said he would be back in September. They were parked across from Zups.

Nope, with leeches being hard to find people would be buying them for bait, and
the only fish that would bite on them would be wearing sombreros!! :)

Hmmm..I wonder how a food truck that served tacos would do for the busy season? They are gaining popularity everywhere else, no reason to think that they would not be popular in Ely as well. Not sure how other local businesses would feel about it though...
