I Have used this Lure many times in early spring and have caught the grand slam on it in the Q. shallow runner(bout 2-4'). I broke the lip on it and have searched diligently for another with no luck. With the wealth of knowledge on this forum can someone identify my beloved lure and where I could get another.
Thanks

Looks like a firetiger Rapala Flat Rap

Great wobble action!

I believe they may be discontinued....

BobberRob got it I think. They are discontinued but Rapala (and Amazon) have a bunch of #8 (a little smaller than yours at 3 1/8") left over in other colors. Perch might work?

If you MUST have it -- hop on ebay and open up the wallet. There is a #10 in firetiger for $15 and some #8's as well.

Thanks again for replies.
Discontinued means expensive on ebay, I may have fallen out of love with this Lure. Thinking on trying Bomber 15A shallow, any thought on it being similar in action?

Bomber Long A might be pretty close.

But the Flat Rap is a shallow diving, floating, wobbling balsa bait, made by Rapala. I'd think an original floating minnow or jointed would be pretty similar as well.

not necessarily , some think they have gold , but i've got some older bomber lures at a fair price . but i've recently became a fan of the smithwick perfect 10 rogue , a shallow diver with rattles that suspends .

Agree on the Smithwick perfect 10 rogue. Great lure.

rdmarr: I think what you're looking for is a tight wobble lure. There are a lot of flat sided lures out there (not necessarily as good as the Flat Rap). Lipless cranks are typically flat sided and will give you a tight wobble. They generally have a rattle, but there are a few silent ones out there. The original floating Rap will have a similar profile, but will displace much more water than your flat Rap. Maybe a Shad Rap will be a nice switch. Not as long, but flat sides/tight wobble, shallow running, and a ton of colors. I've definitely trolled these lures too. Pretty good success, but I've had better luck casting and controlling the retrieve.

Shock,
Thanks for info on smithwick looks like a great lure. I like to cast suspending Lure and troll floating lures. I troll a lot, usually troll 2 crankbaits at a time if one hooks up the other dont sink and get snagged.

Agree, it’s a flat rap. I only have a few of these in brook trout pattern. The trout love these. They have a bit less wobble than an original Rapala. Maybe that’s why they like it.

Sounds like a solid plan to prevent snags if you're by yourself, but you can't do that in the BWCA... one line per person. If with another person they could just reel in their line while you fight the fish.

Also its not permitted in the Q where I troll with one line, but I do a lot of fishing on the Tennessee river where I can with 2 lines.

Plenty of different places to fish other than the BWCA, figured you were fishing elsewhere.

I'd be interested in hearing what you decided to go with to replace the Flat Rap!
