Which lake would you go to for winter Trout Daniels or Duncan?

I've fished both lakes several times in the winter. Both lakes are good choices, but the fishing can be good, slow, or dead.

Sounds like they are about the same. In your experience is one busier than the other?

Duncan is usually busier

Duncan used to have a lot of large fish -less so now. You are more likely to get skunked on Duncan.

Daniels tends to have small fish and while your chances of being skunked are less than Duncan they're still too high for my taste.

Try Partridge it's a better numbers lake or if your lazy Moss is a great lake as well.

All the close in lakes get a lot of pressure from people who know how to fish lakers.

Duncan has taken a beating over the years especially with lakes opening inside the BWCA a couple of weeks before they do outside in the winter. Duncan being 1 portage in makes for heavier pressure earlier and overall.
The tulibee or cisco do help a few trout still get big.
