If I'm like you we all have endured many months of cold and ice in anticipation of dipping the paddle into the clear waters of the BWCA. Although I have visited the BWCA many times and have explored numerious lakes and rivers I've never paddeled in early spring after ice out.
Can someone tell me if spring is a good time to head North and plan a trip. What about early fishing and regs?

Thanks

I usually go up ther just after ice out and go into agnes and just slay the walleyes its awesome !!!
I usually stay on the second campsite on the righthand side of the lake theres a small island and two huge rocks straight out from the campsite and i caught many walleyes over 30 inches and a whole bunch of good eaters
p.s. I use leeches and a red #6 hook on a slip bobber
good luck

I'll be headinging into angnus, via the nina moose river the end of may. I have some success fishing walleye, but have never landed into anything big. Can someone point out some locations for walleye and also for fishing crappie?

True...I have never hit any big fishes up there. The biggest fish was a 26inch northern caught on a banjo minnow...plus what lake is good for crappie fishing.
