So I am hoping I could upload my vax card along with my RABC application. Hopefully by summer the rapid test will not be required. Or a ranger could be authorized to approve the rapid test one could provide at a southern Quetico entry point.

The sun tells me spring is coming but it sure feels like winter here in the north woods. Almost two feet of snow on my snow stick and minus teens the next few nights. I shall wait out winter till the ice turns to water.

Well that should make things easier. Still have to coordinate a test though now only 1 day prior but the rapid test results are much quicker to get. Also a heck of a lot less expensive!

I can get free PCR but have to pay for rapid, and home tests not accepted. I guess free or not testing is based on state. Also odd the feds require private insurers to pay for tests but Medicare does not.

I would assume that it's not a 24 hour requirement on the rapid test, but a timestamp of the day before is sufficient. I hope so, otherwise that could get tricky for those driving up from outside of MN area.

The ID Now test meets Canada's "molecular" (PCR) requirement, which gives the traveler the 72-hour travel time rather than the 24-hour window.

We were tested using ID Now (FREE, my favorite price!) the evening of August 24, 2021, at a nearby Walgreen in western NC last August--had our test results in an hour. Uploaded our vaccination info and test results via ArriveCAN app on my smartphone. Easily crossed into Ontario the morning of August 26, 2021, and enjoyed a 10-day trip in Algonquin. (Quetico was closed by wildfires.)

If we need to use the same process to enter Quetico in August of 2022, that's what we'll do, but we're hoping that with the March 1, 2022, end of proof of vaccination is a prelude to reinstating the RABC system and allowing southern entry into the Q.

My granddaughter wants to come with me but she has had terrible kidney reactions to vaccines in the past so she can't get it, even though she wants it... I wonder if there will be a time when we just need the tests ...

What do you know about proof of vaccination being dropped? All I find is Ontario is dropping proof for entering buildings, not crossing border.

Bill, you're correct--I heard a radio report about Ontario dropping proof of vaccination requirements as of March 1 and thought it applied to their border. I didn't do my homework before posting--my bad. I'm still hopeful that border restrictions will be eased in time for the RABC to be reinstated.

Not for me. I was last in Canada in June 2019. And given that I will be 75 this fall, time is running out for me. I am hoping to go there in July or August for several weeks and again in late September/early October for a week.

I’ve love Doonesbury also! I used to deliver papers as a kid and reading the comics was a fun start to my Sunday. Gary Trudeau was a master of underhanded humor.
