Planning a Quetico trip this June. Have been in BWCA lots but not Quetico for decades. Does anyone know of a guidebook for the park? Don't see anything in the "books" tab of this site. Also where do you get Quetico maps -- same suppliers as for BWCA?

See also https://chrismar.com/ , said to be more accurate for finding portages.

Rap… I suggest getting the Fisher map book. It has every map of Quetico and the BWCA. It’s a great book for every paddler to have at home for planning future canoe trips. It’s not a book to take in the canoe.

After you have your permit, you can buy trip-specific navigation maps from Fisher or McKenzie. McKenzie’s scale is slightly larger with a bit more detail, but both maps are good for tripping through Quetico.

Chrismar is a good planning map, too, but for navigation, the scale is pretty small.

If you want to travel to Madison, WI the weekend of March 11-13, take in Canoecopia. Lots of good gear deals, as well as speakers and presentations on all things paddling.

The Chrismar makes a great backup and like someone said - their portages are usually right where they have them on the map. I use MacKenzie to navigate but always compare portage markings with the Chrismar before the trip.

This is a book worth having.

In addition to the advice given, I've been using this site, making and marking my own maps at larger scale.
