So, I was scrolling through & looking at rec.gov's permit availability for the bwcaw, and was surprised to note that EP 71, "From Canada", is sold out a few days this summer. That's a 3-per-day EP, and I counted a total of 41 taken up to Labor Day.
Given that some folks who paddle into the bwcaw this way would only need a day permit if exiting the day they cross the border...that's a lot of parties planning to cross. (I'm one - I may solo back south after a group Quetico trip & use a day pass.)

Agreed this is a bit of an anomaly. That permit is usually open.
I’ve only used that permit once when paddling from northern Q and exiting at Fall Lake. It’s a strange, strange world post Covid. Nothin’ makes sense anymore.
