Curious what depth (if any specific) we should be fishing in during a later August to mid September trip?

I've only ever been in the BW in August and September. We usually don't take live bait. We mainly use jig with a twister tail or plastic leech, bottom bouncers with plastic leech or plastic worm, crank baits of varying depths and topwater lures.

Walleye- I'm typically finding walleye on humps that come up to 10' to 20' of depth. We'll also find them while trolling over 20' to 30' bottom when traveling. Towards the evening we see massive schools of fish suspended around 30' over a 60' basin. We troll our deepest cranks and pick some up. Then move shallower as the night approaches and switch to jig and twister fishing. I've not found a consistent shallow bite this time of year, but we will one of these trips.

Bass- Topwater even in August and Sept. Even during the middle of the day. But we'll also pick up smallies while walleye fishing.

Pike- We've caught them at all depths. If we start catching to many or losing to many lures to them we move to a new location. We mainly only target pike if the walleye/bass fishing is slow.

The lakes you intend to fish make a difference. Gin clear lakes and you might be fishing in 20 to 50 feet, depending on how bright the day is. The bog stained water lakes might be great for walleye fishing in 5 to 10 feet. Choose the fishing depending on the lake, not just the time of year.

Walleyes Sept 15.... Live minnows in 25 to 35 ft were the best. Smallies about 10 ft shallower... Switched to jigs with plastics after minnows were gone with success, but about 50% as effective.

I typically fish bog stained lakes for walleye and during late August I can find walleye in as shallow as 5 ft. Wind direction and speed can also affect where I find walleye.

Perent Lake last year in mid September I caught almost all the walleyes and northerns in about 6-10 feet of water. I can't claim to be experienced enough at BW fishing to know if that's the norm though, so take it for what it's worth.
