For Brule Lake, I have fished this lake every last weekend in may for approx. the last 6-7 years. Mainly in brule bay. The walleye fishing and small mouth fishin is great in there, but not much for size. i have portaged into echo lake a few times and hit the walleyes once. Also portaged into north cone and did ok. The problem im having isnt so much brule lake, just being there is awsome. but catching only a 3 lber in 6 years being my biggest walleye. However I have caught my largest smallie from there.. The problem is, is that their are 8 of us that make this trip and 2 of them are un able to do any more than say a 32 rod portage. 1 is 75 years old, and the other was in an accident with electricity and he also cant do much more of a portage just due to him body wont able him to.

I would like info from some of you experts to a lake that we can catch numbers of walleyes, but also with size to them. most fish we catch are releast except for 1 dinner. anyways, the lake im looking for should have a secluded bay lots of reefs, some that break the water and some that are say upto 6 feet. Dont need to really know lures cause all we use are jigs w/leeches, or slip boobering with leeches. as they have always seemed to work for us, unless you have other sugg. i have tried cranking for walleyes, but i have never caught a eye on a crank.

Anyways, if anyone can share some info on a lake that i described that holds BIG walleye i would greatly appreciate it,, also with no long portages to get there. Thanks a bunch

No response... I guess I'll chime in.

Sounds like you know the lake way better than myself. I have only spent a couple days on Brule... mostly just paddling accross it. My first trip into the BW was there and I was solo... that's when I fell in love with it....

If you haven't been there, you might try Vernon. The portage isn't a long one but it's not a flat hike either. Brule flows into Vernon and where it does the fishing should be good. I've pesonally caught smallies and pike out of there but at the time I was a novice walleye fisherman (first trip). I've been informed by a reliable source that it is an excellent walleye lake. The camp at the base of the flowage from Brule was nice but I didn't camp there.
