In the 1980s we took a trip up thru Adams to Boulder and took a 220 rd portage from Boulder to Vee. We paddled up a stream a short way and the portage was where the stream narrowed. It was much faster than portaging the long portage to Ledge Lake. Anyone know if that portage to Vee is still open?

Interesting. Have been through the traditional route, but had no idea those two might be (or have once been) directly connected.

While I don't have any old maps, I bet a bunch of folks here do, and perhaps someone knows the history...

I explored that creek several years ago and was surprised to see a portage, that in it's day ( probably CCC ) had seen a lot of work. When I got to the end of the overgrown trail there was a boad expanse, that at one time was obviously water. There was a jackpine growing in the middle, indicating to me it had been dry for years. When I got home I consulted my 1952 maps. It did show a portage there.
