Has anyone here been to Rail Lake? My father and I are closely considering running the river and bushwacking to it from Malberg Lake. Any opinions or input from experience on it are welcome.
Thanks.

I am looking at it and it looks tough. I have done similar trips and will offer what I have learned from that.

Bring extra water and food and don't expect a river. I would wear something like keen sandals and expect to be getting in and out of the canoe multiple times and occasionally having to step on the bog which will soak your feet.

I would also have a gps of some sort on you to make it easier to see how far away you are.

My best advice that may or may not work for you is if you get to the edge of the bog you might be able to walk most of the way and just drag the canoe over the grass. If you can do that for even half of it then it might be fairly easy. Tough to tell though.

Best of luck.
