I stumbled upon a tactic for stringing my laundry line that eliminates the need for any sort of clothes pins or clips.

My line is probably 2-3 times longer than I need (but you never really know how long you'll need it to be) and I realized if I take the extra line and twist it back on itself, I can then push socks, sleeves, etc. thru each twist and everything is held in place on the line. Nothing blew off or fell into the dirt. Less chance of losing stuff that fell into the weeds, too.

The tighter the twist, the more secure it holds stuff on the line. Try it.

Sometimes the simple things work great. I’ve been doing this for years- as an old Girl & Boy Scout leader, we learned many nifty tricks to keep things running smoothly.

Cool idea!

Our solution for the problem is a small bag of binder clips. Light, compact and secure.

Shirts, pants, etc. you can just button around the line or even branches.

What about socks and towels? My shirts don’t have buttons.

I found this Sea to Summit Lite Line Laundry Line perfect for canoe camping. Very lightweight and functional.

So you're one of those unbuttoned guys, huh? ;)

I rarely hang a line but if I do I use the technique the OP mentioned. But usually I just throw them on bushes, tree branches, rocks, logs, etc. in the sun. I'm one of those KISS guys :)

Boonie … too funny … a KISS guy.

As I got older I have transitioned from a KISS guy to a GADGET guy. LOL

Ah man, say it ain't true, Wally . . . :)

Old age is killing me though - I started bringing a butt pad and I think the pee bottle's coming in a couple of years . . .

Dang Boonie … you are 3 years older than me. LOL

Been doing this for years myself. I have no idea where the idea came from but we use it.

We used to do the line twist trick as well, but now we just throw our wet items over our tarp lines to dry. If they blow off we just put them up on the lines again....

Hey boonie, once you start using a pee bottle make sure you keep a flashlight handy in the event that you get thirsty in the middle of the night! You wouldn't want that surprise.
