Looking for something lightweight enough to backpack- no more than 4-5 pounds. I love my copper spur UL 2 person, but holy wow it's an expensive tent. Anyone have experience with the big agnes seedhouse?

Have you looked at TarpTent They have a couple of 3-person models, are lightweight, and less expensive than some others. They have a good reputation and reviews.
Others - Marmot, Sierra Designs, Kelty, Nemo, etc. . . .
Depends on what trade-offs are most imortant - weight, cost, room, etc.

Hi, This is the age old question. $ vs wt. I have a copper spur 3 person that fits 2 comfortably. We only use that for way back country camping like Glacier or Yellowstone. Howevever, my Coleman 4 person with bathtub floor that comfortably sleeps three people and repels all sorts of rain and groundwater is only about 8 pounds. I asked myself if 4.5 lbs difference was going to kill me and I decided that it wouldn't. I take the stakes and poles in my pack and give the wadded up tent in a stuff sack to my wife. So it ends up being an additional 2 lbs or so per person over a super lightweight tent and we don't even notice the difference.

We have been happy with our REI halfdome 3+. Admittedly only used it once so far and the weather didn't really test it. Like the offset of the rainfly door to make reaching from the inside easier than straight out from the center. Only minor gripe would be the length of the poles when packed seem a little long.

The side door design of the CS is definitely more convenient and easier to use, but the seed house is a great value for the weight and quality.

I got a Sierra Designs Meteor 3 which for me hit the mark for weight vs durability vs size vs price. They also have a light version if 6 oz over your limit is too much, but it's not much weight savings for a significant price increase.
I've only had it on one trip but so far so good. It's on sale now for $223. I think I paid $200 last winter.

Good tip! Just scored a meteor Lite 3, previous years design for 229. 4# 5oz
Would LOVE a Hogback but it's more than twice as much $$. Out of my budget.

I didn't even notice that was available. That's a great deal! The current version is $500.
