I am looking into a good breakfast bar. Something that tastes good, isn't all sugar, doesn't 'mush' easily and isn't real expensive.

For those of you who use something like that, what do you like/suggest?

Bagels with flavored cream cheese. Toasted with PBJ when cream cheese is gone.

That's one of my favorites.

But I need something to send out as meal replacements for customers & I already have bagels & cream cheese as a meal.

I would just go for a granola bar myself given the choice. I like peanut butter.

Adam, what granola bars do you like? Flavors? Brand?

I personally like the Clif brand of bars. They have tons of flavor combos, some of which are not to sugary, and at about $-$1.5 each the price is right

I'm not picky when it comes to a meal replacement, but I like peanut butter, cinnamon, and honey/oat type? The can be a bit dry, but then it forces a person to drink more water which is always good.

As an alternative, I like good nuts like filberts, and then maybe a dried fruit like mango. Trail mix is good, but sometime it is too much of a mix.

I agree with granola bars.

Last year I also brought some Quaker oatmeal breakfast bars and found them to be OK. A little more sugar than a good ganola bar but hearty and seemed to do ok in the pack.

I prefer a good solid Granola bar though, but the kids liked them

I also like a well made Hudson Bay Bread-Lynn we both know who makes the best HBB!!!

For the bagels and cream cheese...What type of cream cheese are you using....does this need to keep cold??

I think the brand name is SUNBELT, These are quite good and in many different flavors. They seem to have less sugar than Quaker brand. At my local grocery (County Market) an 8-pack is $2.37 (.29 ea). They are fairly soft.

Yes cream cheese needs to be kept cool. Typically in May this isn't a problem. Latter on you would need some type of cooler.

I use the generic or Philly brand flavored stuff that comes in plastic tubs. I have even softened it at home and transferred it into refillable squeeze tubes.

I usually don't plan on it for every morning on a 4+ day trip but it is a treat the first few days. We just tried CUB Food brand Crunch bars this morning. An Oat-n-honey generic of Nature Valley type bars. I thought they were pretty good, not too sweet, not to fiberous, and (my personal favorite) you get two of them per package! Even my 9 year old daughter liked them. They may tend to be too brittle to be packed into a soft sided pack though.

I get the Philly cream cheese that comes in squeeze individual packets.

I freeze it before sending it out and that way it keeps longer. Plus putting it in a Kondos insulated "cold food" bag helps too.

The squeeze wrapper can be used to spread it on the bagel, or whatever, and you don't need to search for your knife.

The Peanut Butter Clif bars are great but so are all the other flavors of Cliff bars but they are not as cheap as a box of granola bars.

I have an answer for someone looking for a great tasting granola bar that's not full of sugar. Try Kashi brand TLC bars. I've purchased them at Sam's Club in a three pack or at Super Target. 6 bars are about $2.50

V.N., can you get those packets retail? Or do I have to outfit with you next time (which may be a good idea anyway)?

Hmm, not sure. If someone like the Sam's Club or Costco, or the like, had them, I think you could. But it may be something they only sell wholesale. I've never tried to buy them in a store.

I really like Alpsnacks...

http://www.drbronner.com/alpsnack_index.html

They are a bit pricey, but they are vegan, organic, and they come in a variety of flavors.

Per the website, they contain 500 mg. of Omega 3 essential fatty acid and is dairy, gluten, and wheat free.

All profits from the sale of ALPSNACK are devoted to industrial hemp advocacy....which is always a bonus.
