In all the threads on the forums, I have yet to see anyone using one of these. I was given one for my birthday a few years ago. You have to use a phone or tablet, but the picture and amount of info it gives seems to be up there with the best of the portables. Field and Stream rated it in the top three along with Lowrance Hook2 4x and Garming Echomap UHD. Takes far less room then the others and can recharge with a USB cord and a power bank
I am bringing it this year along with the Flexible Arm Mount 2.0. I have two power banks with me that have solar charging capabilities.
Has anyone used on of these? What did you think?

I do have the Deeper Pro Plus fish finder. In the plus side it’s small and light weight with excellent graphics. On the down side is the charge life. I think about six hours for the Deeper, but even less time on the phone I use. I carry a power bank to recharge both which does add extra weight. I like it for its simplicity, but don’t like having to recharge my phone every day.

We are planning on solving the recharging aspects with solar powered power banks. Will use the tablet, stripped of all other programs for the Deeper rather then the phone. Will see how it goes. Still a lot less bulky and heavy then a garmin with big battery.

I've had a Deeper Pro+ for a few years now and have probably used mine 50 or 60 days between ice fishing and canoeing. It's been alright. I'm a little sour on it because it's had connectivity problems a few times but it's been great when it's worked. It sounds like you're safeguarding against those issues with the dedicated tablet. 6 hours was what the battery lasted when it was new. I've never tried to shoot it through a hull. It's a lot more messing around than a traditional sonar but it sure wins out in the weight category.

I bought the attachment for it that holds the Deeper over the side of the canoe with an arm that allows it to move up and down with the level of the water. To make sure there are no connectivity issues I have gone through the tablet and removed all programs that draw memory or would interfere. 3 power banks. We will see how it goes.

I have the Deeper CHIRP and used it on my trip a month ago. It worked great! Note that it will shoot thru canoe hull. I float it in a ziplock bag with just a little water in it and set it under the stern seat (will not shoot thru sections of hull with embedded foam). The battery life on the sonar was really good and didn’t use up much from my power bank. It does drain the phone battery but I just turned the screen off whenever possible to save battery. It may also help to turn off location services for the Deeper app so isn’t using GPS on the phone which uses more power.

I just got back from a trip and used my Deeper Pro+ 2 for jigging on some deeper lakes for lake trout. With the bigger jigs you can really see the depth and action for the jig which was helpful on these deeper lakes. i attached a photo of the sonar picking up the jig and a laker coming up to inspect it. I probably used the fish finder for about 3 hours total and had to recharge it once. The phone drained faster.

If it's anything like the one Lowrance had a few years ago, it was more hassle than it was worth in a canoe:
- Always fussing with connectivity to your phone. Water splashing over it would even affect signal.
- Just using an old phone or tablet sounds ideal, but you're running it at full brightness due to bright daylight with screen always on so that you don't have to keep unlocking, with a wifi connection so it kills the battery pretty quickly. You'd almost need to have the phone plugged into a power bank just to last long enough for a trip out fishing.
- You won't get much charge on a solar powered battery charging option. Better to just bring a bigger battery pack.
- Garmin Stryker and Hawkeye Fishtrax seem to be the go-to's otherwise.
