A review of trip reports indicates several hiking options and when I look at the map Disappointment is indeed surrounded with options. I have permit to enter 09/18 and planned on a night on Disappointment then on to Ima and back out. I might just base on Disappointment and day trip to Cattyman Falls, do some day hiking and paddle around disappointment. Plan on coming out 9/21 or 22 and will see you at Wingnight. If you see a black magic with flying moose stop by for a hello. If open I will be at campsite 1381 hoping to catch some northern lights.
Seeking input on trail conditions and access from campsites on Disappointment. Thanks.

Stayed a few nights on Disappointment lake campsite 1379 last summer. The trail runs right behind this campsite. The day trip to cattyman falls and the Jordan narrows was plenty doable in one day. Have a great trip!

Sites 2084, 1379, 1380, and 1383 all have access to the trail. The Disappointment-Ahsub portage crosses the trail as does the Snowbank-Disappointment-Parent set of portages. I have hiked this trial and stayed at 1379. Its a nice site albeit a bit overused. Trail will probably be a bit overgrown after the summer but potentially clearing some depending on how the fall progresses.

If you hike towards Snowbank and then counter-clockwise around the lake there are a couple of nice vistas within about a mile after you cross the bridge at the Snowbank-Boot portages.

We're entering 9/22 and planning to basecamp on Disappointment. Look for a black NW17 and a silver Wenonah Spirit II, both sporting the flying moose. 1381 is a site we are planning to target!

My son and I did old pines loop. Wish I could find trip report posted here. Might be helpful. I have no idea how to search this site.

I've looked all over the site for "Your Account" link and don't find it. Is that only on a laptop or desktop? (I haven't visited site on other than a phone in years.)

Bill, I think I found a comment you made to another trip report. It would not be a favorable rating for the old pines loop. So far I understand there are several trails, most with minimum use and having GPS is a good idea. I will carry my InReach. Lake County has a hiking group I am still looking into and their reports suggest they are moving at good pace on the Kekekabic trail until the boulder field.
Weather is looking good and basing on Disappointment with hikes and day trip to Cattyman sounds pretty sweet right now. Visiting the Old Pines south of Medas is on the options list.
Thanks for all your input.
Anyone having trail condition experience from this year thanks in advance.

Thank you for the assistance. I found that but don't find a list of my trip reports there.

One idea too, if you carry your cell phone in, download the Avenza Map app on your phone, then at the bottom, go to “Store” and download the FREE “Wild Map (TM) Snowbank (Terrain) Quiet Wild, LLC” map and you’ll see all the trails around Disappointment, and will track where you’re at via GPS. Your phone can totally be in Airplane mode and utilize this.

This is the app we used when we did the Thru-hike of snowbank trail last year. It’s HIGHLY detailed too.
