Does anyone out there have a ways and means of smoking trout on a fire grate without having to haul in the whole kitchen? Please, no (I can't keep them lit) jokes.
Wow, you bumped a thread from 2002 to ask that question? You actually DESERVE an "I can't keep the damn trout lit" post about smoking them. ;-)
"Keep close to Nature's heart, yourself; and break clear away, once in a while, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods. Wash your spirit clean." ~ John Muir
I have smoked them successfully in a small weber, so I don't see why you couldn't rig something up with aluminum foil. I made a small briquette fire on one side of the grill and kept the trout fillets over on the other side. I used punky aspen for the smoke: the flavor is quite good. In the BW, your trick is going to be keeping coals going long enough.
